October 9, 2011 - The Great Pumpkin

"On Halloween night, the Great Pumpkin rises from his pumpkin patch and flies through the air with his bag of toys to all the children." - Linus  (from It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!)

October 8, 2011 - Gotta Get Away

Sometimes you just have to get away and unplug yourself from work stuff and the house cleaning. Today, we did just that. We skipped soccer and took a long drive to Oak Glen. We explored the area, enjoyed a train ride, tasted apples, drank apple cider, ate roasted almonds and cashews sprinkled with cinnamon and brown sugar, had Texas BBQ, bought candy apples, and watched the boys entertain themselves in a bounce house. Nothing spectacular but very much needed.

October 6, 2011 - Bienvenu Octobre

Nothing beats the fall in New York, but I can sprinkle a few decorations and pretend.

October 1, 2011 - A Mob to Mini-Teams

Coach changed it up a little this week and  let the kids play  4 on 4.  Confusion became the word of the day. There was confusion as to which net to kick the ball into; sometimes the kids mistakenly kicked it into the opposing team's net.  Then there were tears of confusion and frustration.  Anthony couldn't understand why his own team mate kept "taking ball."  He cried and stood on the sideline despite Daniel's encouraging words about helping his friends.  Little Daniel didn't really kick but had fun just running around. I was just happy he was on the field. All the parents were cheering, praising, and picture taking.  After the game, our mini-team bonded as they played tag, and we made 2 new acquaintances.
