June 23, 2012 - Mikey's All Stars & Championship Games

Now that our boys are getting older and in sports of their own, I haven't made it to many of Mikey and Lelani's games.  This Saturday morning was a must though since he was playing in the All Stars game.  The winner of this game would play this same night under the lights.  The West won the game and played under the lights against the North.  Although both teams played hard, Mikey's team ultimately won the game in a nail biting finish :)

June 21, 2012 - Bahooka

Jim and Martha have been wanting to take us to Bahooka for months. Summer vacation provided the opportunity for us to have lunch at their favored Hawaiian-themed restaurant.  I'm so glad we got to break bread with our neighbors who we are lucky to call friends.

June 22, 2012 - Lelani's Promotion

Lelani's promotion ceremony was held at Michigan Park and was the cutest thing ever. My two favorite moments had to be the class singing "You've Got a Friend in Me" from Toy Story and the releasing of the colorful balloons. This soon-to-be Kindergartener was surrounded by a few of her biggest fans: Her mommy, Brother Mikey, Danielle, and my family.  Congratulations, Lela!

June 21, 2012 - Supporting Cindy @ State Farm

I am so glad I was out of school when Cindy's office had their grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony. All four of us were there to say hip hip hooray.

June 18, 2012 - CSUF's New President - Boricua?

My alma mater, Cal State Fullerton, has a new president. Her name is Mildred Garcia. She and I have much in common.  We are both from New York and Puerto Rican.  The Titan magazine ran an article about her roots and accomplishments. I got it in my head that I wanted to visit her office and meet her.  Being that she's just taken office, I was respectfully told she was unable to fulfill this request at this time.  Hopefully once she has settled in, I will be posting about this meeting and a picture of us with Madam President :)

How could she not take a meeting with these cuties?

June 16, 2012 - H2O

Summer isn't summer without visiting Splash.  A pass to this place is a must with these guys.  It is a fun exursion, soooo close, and a great go-to activity when we have nothing else planned.

June 13, 2012 - Oh, the Places You'll Go! "Yearbook"

I love the wisdom-filled Dr. Seuss classic Oh, the Places You'll Go! Last month on
Pinterest, I came across this fabulous idea to do for the boys with the book click here.  In a nutshell, you get each of your child's teachers to sign the book from PreK-12th grade.  The boys' preschool teachers, Mrs. Melissa and Mrs. Lauren, were the first to autograph their yearbooks. I admit that I am a sentimental chic, but I can't help but think what an unbelievable gift to the boys this will be on their graduation day... a gift 14 years in the making :)

June 15, 2012 - Day 2 of Summer 2012

Day one was filled with errands but today we made sure to get out to the Uptown library and have fun in Central park.
I love that they LOVE going to the library.

They wanted to take their books to the park.
They "read" and then played.

June 10, 2012 - Meira's Bat Mitvah

Oh how I miss my Kiva and her family.  She is one of those people I unfortunately don't see often, but when I do, our conversation and love illuminates the room.  Meira's Bat Mitvah brought these two college friends together for some well overdue time together. Our children rekindled their friendships and played so happily together that it made me wish they lived closer to each other. Portland is now their new home; I guess Oregon is this family's next destination.

June 9, 2012 - King-of-the-Day Daniel

Today's King of the Day was Daniel.  I think I am really liking this K.O.D. idea.  It has easily resolved the battles over who: sits next to me, who goes first, who sleeps next to me,  who plays with the IPad first, who picks the show to be watched etc.  The letter "D" or "A" is on every square of the monthly calendar, which is a good thing because some days are so crazy around here that I can't remember whose day it is.  When amnesia sets in, quirky Anthony is quick to take me over to the calendar and say, "Let's check, Mommy."  I've noticed this conveniently happens on his days :)  Today Little Daniel slowly woke up, and as his sleepy eyes fluttered open, he immediately said, "Mama, it my day." This was affirmation that this problem-solving technique is something that they enjoy and look forward to as well. Today's king got to go to a Madagascar themed workshop at Lowe's with me.

June 3, 2012 - Angels It Is!

Daniel and I have been faithful Yankees and Mets fans respectively since our days in New York. For this reason, it is hard to make room for another team into our vocabulary.  However, the fact of the matter is, we have children who were born on the West Coast and deserve to grow up with a "home team" as we did.  It seems unfair to only catch a few games a year to see the Yankees and Mets play. As of today, our sons have adopted the Angels.
* Today's game was the result of a fundraiser for Mikey and Lelani's little league.  The seats were Godawful (nosebleed) but the company was great :) The Halos played the Texas Rangers and lost 7 to 3.
Let's go Angels.... as long as they aren't playing the Yankees, Son!
