March 9, 2012 - Union Station Photography Class

Everyone says the best way to get better at photography is to simply get out there and take pictures.  Thanks to Dear Husband signing me up for a photography class, I got to do just that. The class was called Composition in the Field.  The location was the historic Union Station downtown. The instructor went over some basics and then encouraged students to shoot and return for feedback.  I don't think my shots were the best, but I got out there, got some me time, and learned more about my little hobby.  A good day :)

March 4, 2012 - Bowers and the Beach

It was the last few days of the Tombs and Warriors exhibit at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana. We'd tried to go last month, but the line was wrapped around the museum. I decided I was going to put on the big girl panties and see it today regardless if the line mirrored a ride at Disneyland. The line was exactly what I'd expected, but the boys entertained themselves running on the grass and skimming Dr. Seuss books for most of the time.  An hour and a half later, we reached the entrance to find out we were appointed the 3 p.m. slot, since they can only accommodate 250 people an hour.  I was so thrilled (insert sarcasm) considering we'd been there since 10:30 a.m. It was decision time. Stay or go? The gorgeous day was beckoning the beach, but the gal who begins her Ancient China unit this week dutifully stayed.  The plan to go the beach afterward was being pushed waaaay back. Worth it? The jury is still out.

March 3, 2012 - Anthony Gets His Gi

The introductory sessions are over and Anthony really seems to like karate, so we've enrolled him.  Twin A, on the other hand, shows no interest in it but is content watching his brother from the sidelines.  The after class Starbucks was a hit with all of us!

 

March 2, 2012 - My 43rd Birthday

My hubby, friends, and students made this 43 year old feel like a pretty special gal!

March 2, 2012 - Thing 1 and Thing 2 - Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

The preschool celebrated Dr.Seuss' birthday by reading his books all week and centering activities around the famed children's author.  Having a Thing 1 and Thing 2, it seemed only apropos to send them dressed that way for Friday's share day.

We went to see The Lorax on this special night compliments of Auntie Leah !
