September 26, 2010 - The First Weekend of Fall....Sure felt like Summer!!!!

After service today, we made a Blas brunch.  We then headed out to Golden Spoon for some frozen yogurt to take to the local park.  This treat was definitely in order, since today's heat topped over 102 degrees! The boys happily played and periodically came back for mouthfuls of their quickly melting treat.  The park eventually began to feel more like a sauna, so we headed east (a.k.a. home).  Quality time would have to be continued at home.  A family nap in air-conditioning counts as quality time, right?

September 25, 2010 - Ask and Ye Shall Receive.....Parents Rock!

Parents Rock!
I've never been one to ask people for things; it goes against the grain of who I am.   However, our school budget has been stretched so thin, that I swallowed my pride and mentioned to parents at Back-to-School night that donations of Clorox wipes and copy paper would be greatly appreciated.  Thank God for a wide enough throat, because donations have been pouring in daily.  Their generosity is even more appreciated considering the state of the economy!  In five days since asking, Room 3 has received: 1 huge ream of paper, 3 canisters of Clorox wipes, 2 pkgs. of dry erase markers, highlighters, and glue sticks. My kiddos' parents rock :)

September 18, 2010 - Saturday at Starbucks With My Starbies

The boys were up by 6 a.m.! I could tell it was going to be one of THOSE Saturdays.  I somehow veered off the path of practicality (Sam's Club run) and instead took the boys to Starbucks.  In my  mind, they'd sit nicely as we all enjoyed our drinks and blueberry scone.  The scenario did not play out exactly that way.  Shortly after these pictures were taken, my coffee was seeping into the tile.   Thankfully it didn't get on anyone. Strangely enough, no one seemed to be upset.  Here is an instance where the cute twin thing helped!!!  I quickly cleaned up the mess, got a refill, and took the party elsewhere.  Note to self: Enjoy Starbucks sans les enfantes.

September 14, 2010 - Daddy's 48th Birthday

It was Daddy's big day, but he preferred to keep it a  low key night.  No going out to dinner and getting sung to by his family and a wait staff.  His request was respected and indoors we stayed.  I made him his special meal followed by cake and ice cream. A quiet night but lots of love and wishes for an awesome dad!

September 12, 2010 - Going to the Candy Shop

A friend of mine recommended Village Sweets http://www.villagesweetscandies.com/
in  Uptown Whittier.  Yummo!!!!  I am not a fudge fan but winded up leaving with 3 chunks after some awesome samples of pumpkin, rocky road, and caliente.  Lollipops and a chick-o-stick got purchased as well. Give them a try if you are strolling Greenleaf.  You won't be sorry :)

September 11, 2010 - Partners in Crime...Partners in Poo

After the movie Psycho premiered in 1960, millions of women could no longer comfortably take a shower without the fear that some horrific thing was lurking outside the curtain.  As of today, I know that feeling all too well. The boys were happily watching Popeye, so I slipped away to quickly shower. Anthony decided this to be the perfect moment to share his new poo painting talent with Daniel. The partners in crime wielded poo all over.  I entered the initial crime scene and found several of their victims to be the student chairs, sofa, and carpet. Continuing my search of the premises, I literally stepped into more evidence and found more victims: guest room closet door, guest room hardwood floor, and the foot of our sleigh bed.  The perpetrators were immediately put into a line up and found to be covered in evidence.  They were cleaned up as were the crime scenes. I had no time for latex gloves.  This call required almost an entire canister of Clorox Wipes.  After a brief interrogation, they lawyered up and took a nap in their cell with bellies full of milk. As their mug shot clearly suggests, poo painting is tiring. Just call me Detective CaCa :(
On a serious note: Nine years ago today in New York City, our Twin Towers fell.  Never forget those who perished...Never forget those they left  behind...Never forget the heroism...NEVER FORGET......
On a happier note: Three years ago today, we found out that we were having twins!

September 5, 2010 - Knott's Berry Farm

My friend Sherri called and asked if we'd like to go to Knott's Berry Farm with her complimentary tickets.  Dear husband couldn't go because he had homework to complete.  Before turning down this golden opportunity, I called my partner in fun, Leah.  She, of course, found some time to play!  We played, ate at Lucy's Lunch Box, played some more, and enjoyed  Dippin Dots. Perhaps if we'd stayed longer, we might have enjoyed  Pink's hot dogs and some yummy funnel cake.  However, 4 tired kids can take its toll on even the most energetic of gals.  Plus, we both had company arriving at our perspective homes.  The six of us made our way home completely exhausted but glad we went.  Ta, Ta, Knott's.  See ya next year!

September 3, 2010 - The 2010-2011 School Year Begins!

Hard to believe but this is my 15th year of teaching (A.K.A. getting paid to do what I love)!  I must say, getting my classroom ready these last  four years has been much easier since now there is a husband to help.  I wanted him to paint my classroom pink.  He did it despite thinking it was a bit much.  He persuaded me to border my cork boards with brown and I have to say the room looks awesome!!!!  Considering the amount of time I put in there everyday, it should be comfortable and cute :)  Being considerate of the boys, he also suggested my table teams should be professional football teams.  I was hesistant, since my football knowledge is limited.  I went with the idea and think it is a touchdown : )As usual, we bring the boys to school during those classroom prepping days.  What a difference a year makes, huh?
