August 13, 2012 - Florida, Here We Come!

Crazy must we be to go to Florida in August when it is hot, humid, and rainy.  Despite the weather challenges, that is where this family and their bags were headed.

August 10, 2012 - Michelle Ma Belle

Oh, how I love this friend of mine and her family!  I miss her so very much since she moved to Arroyo Grande. Our visits and calls are far and few but our friendship is a strong one that picks up right where we left off every time we rendez-vous.  Hasta la proxima!

August 9, 2012 - Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

What a fabulous summer highlight to see Mary Poppins at the Ahmanson Theatre with Leah and Lela.  I absolutely LOVED every bit of it!  It is an oldie but goodie that makes you mouth the words to favorite songs and eyes well up with tears as Mary Poppins drifts away with her umbrella at story's end. 

Random thought: A theatre etiquette lesson should be taught somewhere during our educational years.   Highlights of the lesson should include: 1) Be on time 2) Save the chatter for intermission 3) Yes, it is a musical. YOU are not a cast member. 4) The Arsenio Hall fist pump is not appropriate.

August 6, 2012 - Six Years as Mr. and Mrs.

Daniel arrived home to find his three little bears fast asleep, being exhausted from their day trip.  I awoke to find pink roses, a beautiful card, and a gift card for my pink backpack from Victoria's Secret.  He was dog tired from his day but still took his bride out for dinner.  He's a keeper :)

August 6, 2012 - Riding on the Metro

 The first part of this special day was spent with Leah and her kiddos since Daniel had to work. We took the train downtown to Union Station and enjoyed some southern comfort food and strolled along Olvera Street. I'd never taken the train downtown but thought this would be fun for the boys since they are soooo into trains. Leah never got the churro she envisioned having but this dilema was solved by Union Station's Starbucks; it served up a Venti Starbucks with soy milk, double shots, and sweetner for the trip home :) The trip home was quite eventful with the introduction of three very colorful people who I shall refer to as "Capital A," "Prego," and "Teen Spirit." ~ Last line for you, Leah! ~

 

August 5, 2012 - Cars Land Preview

We spent the weekend redecorating the boys room.  Actually, Daniel did most of it.  He made the Home Depot runs, painted the walls and baseboards, and assembled their toddler beds. I cleaned, gave decorations input, searched the internet for Cars bedding, and took the boys to Walmart to get Cars pajamas and toothpaste.  Their newly redecorated room merited nothing less for the grand opening :)  In their eyes, this appears to be a gift to them; it is to some extent.  However, we are doing this as our wedding anniversary gift to ourselves.  We are taking our bedroom back while making it a win/win situation for all ;).
We had hoped to have them in their room tonight, but found out after the paint was dry, room somewhat decorated, and furniture moved that the full sheets were too big.  An unscheduled run to Babies R Us was the new plan @ 8 p.m.  Delays are so typical of home improvement projects :/

August 3, 2012 - Sunset on Sonrise VBS

This is the boys second summer attending VBS at Morningstar.  I love that they are eager to go everyday and have so much fun. As the week came to a close, I couldn't help but think of how grateful I was for this program and for the many VoLuNtEeRs who make the week so fun for the kids.  I am seriously considering volunteering next year here or at Granada Heights.

July 30, 2012 - Pinterest Projects

I admit that I have become addicted to Pinterest.  I never ever felt that I was the crafty type; I was content knowing my talents lied elsewhere.  However, Pinterest has empowered me and inspired me to believe that I can create some pretty cool things.  Here is a sample of what I've been up to lately ;)

Desk accessories: coasters for my coffee and water & frame with Post Its :)
