January 27, 2009 - Oaths and I Do's (42 Weeks)
This week started out with the innauguration of President Obama. Being a history teacher made that day even more incredible for me. In class we were studying ancient China. I told the kids, "Ancient China will still be ancient tomorrow. You are experiencing history today!" So, we watched the innauguration in class. What they'll retain of all their ancient civilization learning this year I'll never know. I do hope that they'll remember this historic day of their 6th grade year.
On Friday, we went to my friend's wedding and had a great time. She looked happy and absolutely radiant! Liz was surrounded by her family and her many friends from our school. The boys were with us and enjoyed being spoiled by our friends who were more than willing to hold them.

January 20, 2009 - Teething Bites (41 Weeks)
Baby Daniel has been having a tough week. His upper two teeth are about to make their grand entrance but not without giving our little one much discomfort. He has been irritable, needy, restless, and sometimes inconsolable. We’ve been using Orajel, Humphrey’s, and Infant Tylenol which has helped somewhat. On Friday, Daniel noticed that he was tugging at his ear, so he made an appt. for him to be seen at Kaiser that evening. It turns out that besides teething, he has a mild ear infection and a cold. He was given penicillin to take for 10 days. We can deal with the lack of sleep, but what pains us is to see him crying out in pain. “Becoming a big boy is hard!”
*On Sunday, the teeth finally broke through.
** In a few hours our 44th president will be sworn in. Here's hoping and praying for a better future!

January 13, 2009 – Checkups, Cribs, and Castles (40 Weeks)
Make a Smilebox scrapbook |
On Thursday, Daniel took the boys for their 9 month wellness checkup with their pediatrician. Although Daniel is quite good at handling the two of them, Josefina went with them. An extra pair of hands is always a godsend when you’ve got twins. Dr. Castillo has Daniel at 2 feet 5 inches and just shy of 17 lbs. Anthony is 2 feet 6 inches and 22 lbs. Though there are stark differences in weight, they are both progressing well.
Daniel had his next project to complete, which was putting together the second crib we purchased. Now that Baby Daniel is, for the most part, sleeping through the night, we are planning on getting them to sleep in their room. What a concept, huh? We are going to start with putting them down in their cribs for naps. We’ll see how this goes.
On Sunday, we went to Medieval Times with Auntie Leah, Uncle Sio, and Cousins Mikey and Leilani. A coupon in the daily newspaper was the catalyst for the visit. Goes to show you some of the best times are unplanned!

January 6, 2009 - Happy New Year! (39 Weeks)
This New Year's Eve was the first in a long time when I've been awake to welcome in the new year. We BBQ'd with our neighbors Martha and Jim and shared the countdown with them and Anthony. Yes, Anthony was awake. He normally sleeps through the night but woke up since he'd fallen asleep earlier than usual. Baby Daniel was fast alseep. After we all kissed, we went in to kiss our sleeping angel.
On Sunday we went to Disneyland with some of Daniel's clan. It was a last minute plan. Although there was much to be done at home and school starting the following day, we got the boys ready and ran out the door. Neat freak that I am, I had to remind myself, "Memories are more important than messy beds." It was their first time at Disneyland, so we had to get them the personalized ears (as did Mommy). They also received a "My 1st Visit" pin. They were oblivious to where we were but who cares. They got on the pirates ride and also enjoyed the many lights once it got dark. They LOVE lights!!!! I wanted to do the Small World ride, but the line was unfortunately ridiculous. After our long day, we ate at Denny's and headed home around 10:30. I sure was tired my first day back at work, but I will do anything for my princes (as would Daddy!)
